1950s dresses shown at Edmond seniors' prom

Liz Codding and Judith Harris got invited to a prom so they pulled out their fancy dresses  ones they had worn back in the 1950s.They didn't wear their dresses to the senior prom at Touchmark at Coffee Creek, but the gowns were used as decorations.Liz Codding, 72, said she had five prom dresses packed away in a cedar chest at her home in the adult retirement community. She also has her wedding dress.Any Cheap Animal Costumes in dark-colored shades like black, candy, rust, burgundy and strong wine are just right for an event."They were pretty," Codding said. "I thought I might wear them again."Judith Harris wore her dress to the prom at Wilson High School in St. Paul, Minn., in 1957. Lately, the dress has been stored in an old trunk.

"I never imagined I would need it," she said with a laugh.Family, Career and Community Leaders of America students from Cheyenne Middle School helped with the arrangements and provided corsages and boutonnieres for the Touchmark residents who attended the prom.Students also took pictures of the residents as they danced and enjoyed themselves.Talk of the Town provided big band music.Resident George Tallchief, 95, was a familiar face on the dance floor that night in the grand hall. The former Osage tribal chief and Fairfax educator wasn't alone. "If you could get up and move, you were welcome to do it,But in the winter season, we have to wear Cheap Cat Woman Costumes. Codding and her husband, Skip, decided to sit out the dance."We had not danced in 30 to 40 years," Codding said.
